About
They say when you love something, you see it everywhere. In practical terms, this usually means that we walk around vastly overestimating the degree to which our personal knowledge and experience actually informs us about the way the world works. However, information is valuable based on context and I believe there are certain skills that can help us better understand our place in the world around us.
To understand a game is to understand a rules-based system in isolation. More complex games are made up of multiple overlapping systems, just like society as we experience it. If games are a reflection of our culture, then all we need to understand ourselves is in our games, if we can learn how to look.
